This jacket is an absolute masterclass in denim mastery – something has spent decades perfecting.
Distressing, repairing, patching and reinforcing denim, the level of detail within each garment is almost impossible to document in text or images. Sashiko embroidery criss-crosses the entire jacket, made with a host of different patterns and directions which hold together multiple patches and repairs. This technique has been employed by working class Japanese people for generations as a way of extending the life of treasured garments.
The lining features a tsugihagi (継ぎ接ぎ) "patchwork" digital print, doing away with real patches on the inside and allowing the jacket to be worn comfortable from new.
